Christina Jerman Blackwell
The Woman Behind North Carolina’s
Most Beloved Cheesecake
A Childhood Shaped by Heritage and Heart
In Warren County, North Carolina, where family ties stretch across generations and Sunday dinners feel like reunions, Christina Jerman Blackwell grew up surrounded by a love so abundant it shaped every part of her life. Her mother, Mary, one of thirteen children, and her father, Henry, one of eleven, raised her in a world where cousins felt like siblings and gatherings felt like festivals. As the oldest grandchild on her mother’s side, Christina learned early what it meant to lead with responsibility, compassion, and pride.

“We have hundreds of cousins,” she says with a laugh. “Family isn’t just important to me — it’s who I am.”

Lessons From a Mother Who Fed a Community
Christina’s mother, Mary, is known throughout Warren County as a phenomenal cook — the kind of woman who can feed a church, a family reunion, or an entire community with grace and skill. She's catered events, comforted neighbors with food, and taught Christina the intuitive art of cooking: the patience, the timing, the love.
Those lessons became the foundation of Christina’s own culinary journey.

A Love for Cheese That Started With a Lesson
One of Christina’s earliest memories reveals just how deep her love for cheese ran. As a small child, she walked out of a convenience store with a bag of cheese doodles she hadn’t paid for. Her mother marched her right back inside to return them — a lesson in honesty, but also a moment that hinted at something else: Christina’s lifelong affection for cheese had already taken root. As she grew older, she discovered the joy of exploring different cheeses — each one a new flavor, a new experience, a new spark.

The Refrigerator That Changed Everything
The moment that changed her life came from family, as it often does. Whenever Christina visited her aunt Brenda's home, the first place she went was straight to the refrigerator — because her aunt almost always had a cheesecake waiting.
“That’s where my love for cheesecake began,” she says. “Right there in her kitchen.”

A Craft Perfected Over Time
Over the years, Christina baked, tasted, tweaked, and perfected her own recipe. She developed a cheesecake that reflects everything she values: a creamy, smooth texture, a rich, full flavor, and a sense of love in every bite.
Her baking is not just a craft — it is a continuation of her family’s legacy.

The Family Behind the Woman
Christina’s life is deeply rooted in family, and that love extends into every part of her world.
Her husband, Timothy, has been her best friend for more than 20 years. He works beside her with unwavering support, helping with cooking, labeling, packing, and delivering — the quiet, essential work that keeps a family business running.
Her sons are equally integral.

TJ, now a junior at UNC Charlotte, is the master of the front of the shop. His warm greetings, attention to cleanliness, and effortless charm make him a customer favorite. He keeps the refrigerator glass so spotless that customers often try to reach in for cake, only to be stopped by a crystal‑clear barrier.

Caleb, her youngest, is the “lean, mean calculating machine.” With a natural gift for math, he handles the numbers with precision — calculating slices, minis, and mixed orders with ease. Both boys balance school and bakery life with maturity beyond their years, navigating early mornings and late nights with grace.

A Life Built on Faith and Family
Ask Christina what drives her, and she doesn’t hesitate. “Family,” she says. “And God’s grace. Everything I do, everything I create, everything I share — it all comes from them."

In a world that often celebrates speed over substance, Christina Jerman Blackwell stands as a reminder of what truly matters: heritage, love, community, and the power of family to shape a life — and a legacy — worth celebrating.
