A Leap of Faith From Government Work to Baking
A few years ago, while working in a government office, Christina Jerman Blackwell felt a tug she couldn’t ignore — a quiet but persistent nudge that it was time for something new. “It was God telling me to step out on faith,” she recalls. “To trust what He had placed in me.”

That leap of faith became the beginning of Cheesecake Creations, a family‑owned bakery that has grown from humble beginnings into one of North Carolina’s most celebrated dessert brands.

A Shared Kitchen and a Shared Dream
Christina’s first step into entrepreneurship began in a local commissary kitchen, a bustling shared space where she worked shoulder‑to‑shoulder with four other emerging food entrepreneurs. The kitchen was loud, crowded, and full of ambition. It was also where Christina learned the rhythm of commercial baking and the discipline of production.

For a year, she baked in that shared space, often late into the night, refining her process and building a loyal customer base one cheesecake at a time.

A Tiny Mall Shop With Pots Stacked to the Ceiling
After outgrowing the commissary kitchen, Christina moved into her first independent location: a 300‑square‑foot space inside a local mall. It was small — very small — but it was hers.

Pots and pans were stacked to the ceiling. Every inch of space was used. The refrigerator hummed beside the prep table. The oven door nearly brushed the wall when opened.

But in that tiny shop, something extraordinary happened: the community found her. Customers lined up for slices. Word spread. The demand grew. And Christina, working alongside her family, made the most of every square foot. “It wasn’t perfect,” she says, “but it was provision. It was exactly what we needed for that season.”

From Local Favorite to Grocery Store Staple
As the business expanded, so did its reach. Cheesecake Creations began supplying local grocers, and soon the brand caught the attention of one of the region’s largest supermarket chains.
Today, Cheesecake Creations can be found in 18 Food Lion locations across North Carolina, including:

-
Raleigh
-
Norlina
-
Durham
-
Mebane
-
Burlington
-
Greensboro

With Chapel Hill and Carrboro soon to be added.

For a family‑owned bakery that began in a shared kitchen, the achievement is remarkable — a testament to both the quality of the product and the loyalty of the community that embraced it.

A New Storefront and a New Season of Growth
After maximizing every inch of the mall space, Christina transitioned into a larger storefront — a move she describes as “a true blessing.” The new location offered room to breathe, room to grow, and room to welcome customers into the warm, peaceful environment that has become a signature of the Cheesecake Creations experience.

Smooth, jazzy music fills the air. Customers sway their shoulders without realizing it. The display case showcases 12–15 rotating flavors each week, with Strawberry Crunch remaining the undisputed bestseller.

And the “try before you buy” philosophy — a favorite among customers — continues to set the bakery apart.

A Brand Built on Love, Craft, and Community
Cheesecake Creations offers slices, minis, and whole cheesecakes, with special flavors available by pre‑order. The menu extends far beyond cheesecake, including banana pudding, cookie pudding, cupcakes, brownies, pound cakes, pecan bites and more.

The bakery’s reputation has soared, earning a 5‑star rating and the honor of being voted Alamance County’s #1 Cake Shop for 2025.

But behind every milestone is the same truth: Cheesecake Creations is, and always will be, a family‑owned business built on faith, courage, and the belief that dessert should bring joy.

From a government office… to a shared kitchen… to a tiny mall shop with pots stacked to the ceiling… to grocery shelves across the state… to a thriving storefront filled with music, warmth, and community…

Cheesecake Creations is a North Carolina success story — one slice at a time, and one step of faith at a time.
